Trulieve Cannabis Corp., a prominent cannabis company in the US, revealed its initial state inspection for low-THC medical cannabis product sales at one of their associated independent pharmacies in Georgia — marking Georgia as the inaugural state in the US permitting medical cannabis sales through pharmacies.
“This is a crucial step forward in broadening the accessibility of medical cannabis in Georgia,” stated Riverside Pharmacist Jordan Loggins. “This review brings us nearer to introducing Trulieve’s comprehensive line-up of low-THC offerings, further enhancing the well-being of our clientele.”
Riverside Pharmacy in Gainesville is among the pioneer independent pharmacies in Georgia to seek a distinctive permit to distribute low-THC medical cannabis items. On Oct. 24, Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency inspectors will assess Riverside’s stock handling procedures, security measures, and conformity with Georgia’s regulations, setting the foundation for the community-based pharmacy to provide Trulieve’s extensive low-THC product range to its patrons.
“Our collaboration with Riverside and other stand-alone pharmacies in Georgia is thrilling,” expressed Trulieve Georgia President Dr. Lisa Pinkney. “These synergistic alliances with regional pharmacists extend our outreach, allowing us to engage and assist a broader spectrum of patients.”
Emphasizing the progressive approach, Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers mentioned, “Teaming up with independent entities like Riverside gives us a novel pathway to inform and cater to the Georgia populace.”
In Georgia, pharmacies that fulfill specific criteria can approach the Georgia Board of Pharmacy for an exclusive permit to vend items made from low-THC oil. These pharmacies are required to undergo an evaluation by the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency and source their low-THC items from enterprises accredited by the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission (GMCC). Currently, only Trulieve Georgia and one other company possess the Class 1 production licenses granted by GMCC.
Pharmacies collaborating with Trulieve will feature an expansive collection of premium low-THC goods under Trulieve’s Momenta brand. These include nasal sprays, tinctures, pills, and skin applications. Additionally, Trulieve’s online platform offers valuable tools like the Find a Doctor directory and insights on how to register as a patient in Georgia.
