On December 17, 2024, at around 20:24hrs, a police pursuit in Mississippi began when officers from the Florence Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a 2011 Black GMC Yukon traveling along Hwy 49. The driver, identified as Thomas Fresquez, initially complied but then fled northbound, ignoring traffic signals and putting the public at risk as he headed into the City of Richland. Utilizing a coordinated effort among multiple agencies, including the Richland Police Department, authorities successfully deployed spike strips near a Kroger, disabling three of the Yukon’s tires.
Despite this setback, the vehicle continued traveling north until it was brought to an abrupt halt by a TVI maneuver executed by Richland Police. With the suspect immobilized, a K9 unit was deployed, enabling officers to remove Fresquez from the vehicle and place him under arrest. This police pursuit in Mississippi concluded with Fresquez facing a series of charges, including Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Felony Fleeing, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Marijuana in Close Proximity of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct FTC, False Information to a LEO, Suspended Driver’s License, No Insurance, Expired Tag, and Improper Equipment.
