Oklahoma – Grady County Deputies responded to the 2200 Block of County Road 1400 on Saturday June 29th, 2024 at around 1:40AM in reference to a burglary in progress. The manager of the marijuana grow was watching a robbery occur from a security camera system that was being monitored and notified deputies immediately. The suspects were described as black males wearing all black clothing. When Deputies arrived on scene, they noticed a vehicle parked in an unusual spot and blocked the vehicle in believing it may be used as a getaway vehicle in this rural part of the county. Upon contact at the business deputies saw black males fleeing from the back of the business and gave chase taking two into custody immediately. A search of the area was completed, and the additional two suspects were taken into custody and a firearm located.
Four arrests were made, with police saying that some employees of the grow were injured by the robbers.
Geane Johnson Junior, Herbert Morris, Anthony Rainger, and Ameil Rainger each face a felony charge of conjoint robbery, while Johnson faces an additional charge of possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.
According to court documents, police were dispatched to a marijuana grow, after several men were seen pointing guns at employees.
When police showed up, two men ran out of the building and into nearby woods, they were eventually arrested, while a third was found during a sweep, and the fourth was pulled over who was driving nearby.
All the men were identified using surveillance video.
They allegedly took over $1,100 from employees of the grow, and were assaulted in the process.
Both Raingers face up to 50 years behind bars, while Morris and Johnson both face up to life in prison for former convictions.
“The owner doesn’t even live here but he has cameras, and he was watching his cameras and noticed that they were being robbed,” Grady County Sheriff Gary Boggess said. “These guys are watching these places. They are watching the traffic in and out, and they know when the delivery vans show up and they deliver and bring the money back.”
Boggess said he’s looking into how big the robbery operation the four men were involved in is.
“It’s been several other counties that have been hit with the same pattern as what our suspects did,” he said. “These guys are very methodical, very tactical in their movements and stuff.”
Even with some employees injured in the robbery, Boggess said he’s thankful things didn’t end worse.
“The response time once we received the call was very quick, which probably saved some lives out here,” he said.
Boggess said he is working with statewide agencies, like the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, to figure out what other crimes the four men could be charged for and to put a stop to this kind of dangerous crime.
