On May 25th, 2024, law enforcement officials confiscated a significant amount of illicit marijuana products in a warehouse located in Brooklyn.
Following a reported break-in at the premises at 65 Adelphi Street around 5:30 AM, officers arrived on the scene to find three individuals inside, along with a substantial cache of marijuana and THC-infused items, according to authorities.
Officials indicated that the seized cannabis products, which had been imported illegally, were intended for distribution across various unauthorized dispensaries in New York City.
The illegal stash included packaged marijuana and THC-laced gummies.
According to a spokesperson from City Hall, this raid represents one of the most substantial crackdowns on illegal cannabis dealers to date.
“The combined efforts of the New York City Sheriff’s Office and NYPD culminated in this massive seizure, taking millions of dollars’ worth of cannabis products off the streets. The haul included edibles, vapes, pre-rolls, among others,” reported the station.
Maureen Kokeas, a commanding officer at the NYC Sheriff’s Office, highlighted the shocking revenue generated from these illegal sales, mentioning, “A single package of edibles can fetch $50, and the total income from these unregulated products is staggering,” as told to the media.
Arrested at the scene were Nigel Sandy, 37, of Brooklyn, and Michael Davis, 37, and John Layne, 36, both from the Bronx, who were charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools, the police reported.
