While the spotlight is often on current athletes and coaches, ex-Chicago Bears icon Jim McMahon is focusing on helping former sports professionals in need.
Jim McMahon, renowned for his two Super Bowl victories, is organizing the Gridiron Greats Celebrity Golf Classic through his Revenant cannabis brand. The event, taking place at Mountain-Angel Park Golf Club on February 9, aims to gather funds for the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund. This charity offers financial aid and complimentary medical assistance to ex-NFL players facing severe hardships.
McMahon expressed excitement about the upcoming event in a conversation with Fox News Digital. “Many fantastic people will be there,” he remarked, looking forward to a busy week filled with festivities.
Having launched this tournament in Arizona previously, McMahon aims to highlight the significance of cannabis as a healthier alternative to opioids and other prescription drugs, targeting a message at the NFL.
Revenant, co-founded by McMahon alongside former NFL athletes Kyle Turley and Eben Britton, champions the use of cannabis.
McMahon, in his interview with Fox News Digital, shared how cannabis significantly improved his quality of life, aiding in sleep and appetite, and reducing his dependency on pills.
“Cannabis is a far superior option compared to the pills given to us for years,” McMahon stated. He stressed the plant’s medicinal benefits and criticized the pharmaceutical industry for restricting its legality. “It’s not just a way to get high—it’s a lifesaver for many,” he added.
The event starts at 9 a.m. and offers various ticket options: $100 for general admission, $200 for VIP, $225 for golfers, $675 for a team of three golfers with a celebrity, and $1,125 for the ultimate experience.
