Oregon – On December 20, 2024, Lane County Sheriff’s detectives and deputies served a search warrant at a residence in the 86000 block of Mahogony Lane, south of Springfield. This illegal marijuana operation came to light following a months-long investigation triggered by a traffic stop in Illinois, where authorities discovered 242 pounds of marijuana. The probe ultimately led investigators back to Mahogany Lane, where the property was licensed by the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) for marijuana cultivation. However, evidence indicated that the crop was being diverted out of state in an illegal cannabis bust that extended beyond Oregon borders.
During the warrant execution, law enforcement uncovered over 2,000 pounds of marijuana at the site. About half of this illegal marijuana operation was hidden in a residence on the property that was not part of the licensed grow area and was unaccounted for in the OLCC tracking system. Additionally, Lane County’s Land Management Code Compliance Program plans to follow up on several code violations discovered at the location.
Further searches revealed multiple stolen items, including high-value trailers and tractors, along with two stolen firearms. One of these was a suppressed AR-15, and numerous additional firearms were seized. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office was supported by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and OLCC throughout this illegal cannabis raid. Funding from the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission’s Illegal Marijuana Market Grant (IMMEG) was critical in pursuing this case, helping local law enforcement address the ongoing problem of illegal marijuana markets in Oregon.
This case remains under active investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
