On March 10, 2025, around 10:14 pm, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a call from Hancock State Prison Staff in reference to spotting someone in the woods near the annex of the prison.
Deputy Sheriff was dispatched to the prison to assist the Department of Corrections Staff. Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 was dispatched out to search the area where the person or person(s) was last seen.
Deputy Sheriff’s and Department of Corrections search the area and K-9 was able to track the person(s) which was located on the prison grounds.
The K-9 located two individuals and they were both arrested without incident.
They are identified as:
Jeremiah M. Canty of Macon, Georgia. Age: 42.
Jamirio R. Ray of Macon, Georgia. Age: 27.
Both are charged with Possession of Ecstasy, Use of communication device in commission of a crime, Conspiracy to commit a crime, Possession with intent to distribute MDMA (Ecstasy), Criminal Trespass, Possession of marijuana, Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana, Crossing of guard lines, Items prohibited for possession by inmate without the authorization of the Warden, and Trafficking Ecstasy (MDMA).

They are being held at the Sparta/ Hancock Detention Center without bond.
