Oklahoma — A fake Amazon delivery van was the key factor leading to the shutdown of an illegal marijuana cultivation operation by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN).
Investigations began in January after a Missouri state trooper stopped an Amazon van driver for multiple traffic infractions shortly after the vehicle had crossed state lines.
“The trooper quickly identified the van as a decoy, and the driver consented to a search,” stated Woodward.
The search revealed nearly 250 pounds of marijuana inside the van, reportedly sourced from Bright Stones LLC located in Lindsey, Oklahoma.
“Utilizing fake delivery vans for clandestine operations isn’t new in Oklahoma,” Woodward explained. “Such vehicles can easily blend into any residential area, providing a perfect cover for illegal activities.”
OBN’s further investigation into Bright Stones LLC unveiled that it had acquired its license through a deceptive straw owner strategy. On a subsequent raid on Monday, agents confiscated 9,143 cannabis plants and 215 pounds of processed marijuana.
“The confiscated goods have an estimated street value of around $36 million,” Woodward revealed.
While no arrests have been made yet, authorities believe the suspect is involved in other illegal activities currently under state scrutiny.
“We expect to apprehend the suspect shortly,” Woodward warned. “Criminals should think twice before coming to Oklahoma, as it likely will result in incarceration.”
