Authorities in Commerce City are on the hunt for individuals involved in multiple break-ins at the Stadium Gardens Marijuana Dispensary, which occurred twice recently.
Officials from the Commerce City Police announced on Facebook that there have been several incidents involving cannabis retailers in the area since early May, including four break-ins or attempted break-ins.
“It’s something we’ve seen before, but the frequency and severity seem to be increasing,” noted Rita Tsalyuk, the owner of Stadium Gardens.
The latest incident took place from Wednesday night to early Thursday morning at Tsalyuk’s establishment.
Commerce City police are actively investigating the recurring break-ins at local cannabis shops.
A surveillance video shows three to four individuals using a vehicle to ram the storefront, inflicting significant damage and resulting in substantial losses.
“The damage done vastly outweighs the value of the products stolen,” Tsalyuk commented.
While one of the vehicles implicated in the break-ins has been recovered, the Commerce City Police Department continues their search for both the suspects and the vehicle involved in the latest incident.
The initial break-in attempt at Stadium Gardens was thwarted as the burglars could not gain entry, but during a subsequent attempt, a Kia without license plates was used to successfully breach the entrance, followed by theft of merchandise.
Stadium Gardens Dispensary in Commerce City boarded up after being broken into on May 9.
The local police are collaborating with other law enforcement agencies in the Denver-Metro area to determine if these incidents are part of a larger pattern of similar crimes.
“The situation is deeply unsettling, but the police have been responsive and diligent, though they have yet to apprehend the culprits. I remain hopeful that they will be caught,” said Tsalyuk.
