On May 23, law enforcement officials conducted raids at two locations of Queen-E Smoke and Vape Outlet, one at 1633 Mountain Rd. in Moncton, Canada and the other at 540 Pinewood Rd. in Riverview, Canada.
A 24-year-old employee from the Moncton location was taken into custody and is facing charges according to the federal Cannabis Act. He has since been released and is expected in court on July 29. During the raid, authorities confiscated:
- 215 grams of dried cannabis
- five grams of hashish
- 44 assorted cannabis-infused edibles
- four cannabis vaporizers
- 104 pre-rolled joints
- nine grams of cannabis resin
- 12 grams of shatter
- an ATM
- a money counter
- $2,524 in cash
Similarly, an employee at the Riverview store was arrested by officials from the Department of Justice and Public Safety on related charges. She was also released and is due in court on the same date as her colleague. Seized in this raid were:
- 529 grams of dried cannabis
- 10 grams of hashish
- 152 cannabis edibles of various types
- seven cannabis vaporizers
- 185 pre-rolled joints
- four grams of cannabis resin
- six grams of shatter
- 308 flavoured nicotine vaporizers
- an ATM
- $2,497 in cash
Authorities in New Brunswick have recently enhanced the powers of their peace officers, enabling stricter enforcement of provincial cannabis regulations, amid concerns of over 100 illicit cannabis operations across the region as of April 1.
