California – On December 12, 2024, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) served two search warrants linked to illegal cannabis sales at a smoke and glass shop on the 2200 block of 4th Street in Eureka, and at an apartment in the 800 block of Bayside Road in Arcata. This action followed a multi-week investigation into alleged unauthorized cannabis sales to underage customers at the retail location.
During the probe, investigators discovered a juvenile employee involved in these illegal transactions. Undercover operations confirmed that this underage worker sold cannabis products to a decoy minor, raising alarm about the ease with which regulated substances were being distributed without proper oversight. The shop, which lacked both a valid county permit and state license, represented a serious public safety concern.
Upon serving the warrants, deputies seized hundreds of illegal cannabis items that were available for purchase at the business. Although no arrests were made at the time of the search, the investigation remains ongoing. The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, and additional charges may follow as authorities work to address the presence of a juvenile employee and hold those responsible accountable.
