PORTLAND, Ore. — Local authorities have confirmed the arrest of a man linked to multiple armed robberies targeting dispensaries across the Portland metro area. The arrest occurred on Tuesday.
The Portland Police Bureau reported that Cory J. Jackson, aged 43, was apprehended on Tuesday evening near a Best Buy store at Jantzen Beach, which was evacuated as part of the operation to ensure public safety.
Officials detailed that the arrest was prompted by a tip from the Vancouver Police Department, indicating that Jackson was crossing state lines into Oregon from Washington. At the time, Portland police were engaged in an operation focused on recovering stolen vehicles.
“Officers were on-site and swiftly moved to intercept Jackson as he parked and entered a business on North Tomahawk Island Drive. They evacuated the premises and successfully negotiated with Jackson to come out, leading to his arrest without any further complications,” the bureau shared in a statement.
Following his arrest, Jackson was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center, where he is being held on multiple charges including several counts of robbery.
In a string of incidents stretching back to April, Jackson is accused of armed robberies at several dispensaries. The specific allegations include:
- On April 25, 2023, at a dispensary on Northwest Nicolai Street.
- On June 19, 2023, at a location on Southeast Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
- On June 28, 2023, at a dispensary on Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
- On July 21, 2023, at a site on Southeast 28th Avenue.
- On September 6, 2023, at a dispensary on Southeast Johnson Creek Boulevard.
Authorities have also linked Jackson to additional felonious activities in Washington, Arizona, and Nevada.
